Job Opening for Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Senior Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible designing, testing and transferring software to control custom electronic drives that are complementary to the NovaTorque motor technology. He/she will be part of the R&D team that is responsible for developing both the initial product concepts and the manufacturing ready final implementations. Design assignments will range from control of high power electronics to developing communication interfaces to match customer needs.
- Responsible for design and implementation of embedded software for electronic drives for brushless permanent magnet motors. Resulting software must balance the need for very high reliability with customer driven feature requirements.
- Responsible for selecting software development tools and, along with a hardware engineer, evaluating candidate control processors for motor drive applications.
- Responsible for initial implementation, testing, transfer to manufacturing and follow-up support for the resulting codebase.
- Location: Los Altos, CA
Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.
- Ten years of experience in embedded software required. Experience in design and implementation of high reliability software to control power electronics for motor drives, switching power supplies or inverters is required.
- Experience with modern control algorithms for brushless motors is very desirable. Knowledge of industrial networking protocols such as Modbus, CAN or Profinet is desirable.
- Experience in transferring and supporting software for products in production is required, including working knowledge of source control and release processes.
- Design experience using current commercial realtime operating system development and debug tools required. Working experience with software quality assessment tools is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with hardware, software and mechanical engineers in a small team is required.
- Self-starter who enjoys hands on design.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
Job Opening for Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics)
Senior Electrical Engineer (Power Electronics) will be responsible designing, testing and transferring electronic drives that are complementary to the NovaTorque motor technology. He/she will be part of the R&D team that is responsible for developing both the initial product concepts and the manufacturing ready final designs. Design assignments will range from prototypes for proof of principle to complete designs ready for volume production.
- Responsible for design and testing of electronic drives for brushless permanent magnet motors. Resulting designs must balance the need for high reliability, high efficiency and competitive manufacturing cost.
- Responsible for electrical design, selection of parts, and monitoring PCB layout. Candidate will be responsible for testing prototype drives to demonstrate achievement of technical requirements, reliability and cost objectives.
- Responsible for complete and accurate drawings, materials lists and assembly instructions. Must work closely with Vendors and Manufacturing customers during development, pilot and first production to ensure an efficient transition from R&D into production.

Requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering minimum (M.S. degree preferred.)
- Ten years of experience in product development required. Experience in design and manufacturing support for electronic motor drives, switching power supplies or inverters is required. Good working knowledge of current power device characteristics and topologies for high efficiency operation.
- Experience in selecting vendors and obtaining quality results is required. Working knowledge of statistical reliability analysis techniques is very desirable.
- Experience in transferring and supporting new products in production is required, including developing testing and service approaches.
- Current design experience using Cadence/Orcad design and simulation tools required. Working experience with thermal analysis of electronic packages is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with other disciplines in a small team is required.
- Self-starter who enjoys hands on design.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills.
